Ms Kempthorne is the Vice Principal at Bishop Young Academy. Having graduated with a dual honours degree in Biology with Astrophysics, she decided to share her passion for Science and the natural world by choosing a career in teaching. Ms Kempthorne has spent over a fifteen years sharing her knowledge with thousands of students from all walks of life, in urban areas such as Stoke on Trent and inner city London. It was in London where Ms Kempthorne developed her career in academic rigour and pastoral care. Prior to joining Bishop Young Academy, Ms Kempthorne moved to Yorkshire from London, where she was an Assistant Head in areas of both Curriculum and Inclusion.
Ms Kempthorne is a qualified SENCO and has a Masters in Education specialising in SEMH and ASC. Ms Kempthorne is the Designated Safeguarding Lead at Bishop Young as well as the Inclusion Lead for the academy that also includes our Dovecote resource provision for students with ASC and complex communication needs. As Vice Principal at Bishop Young, Ms Kempthorne champions every learner by collaborating with students and families at Bishop Young Academy to ensure they are all able to succeed.
