Tree Planting Project

In March, pupils will be taking part planting trees in and around the grounds of Bishop Young Academy.

We will be working with White Rose Forest to plant 7000 trees, after a £40000 grant was secured . The White Rose Forest is the community forest for North and West Yorkshire, and as an organisation they work in partnership with local authorities, landowners, businesses and communities to increase woodland across the region and improve our natural environment.

Their vision is to create a genuinely sustainable and well wooded landscape in North and West Yorkshire which will benefit local people, the economy and wildlife. This perfectly complements both our academy and wider Trust priority, to help contribute to, and educate our pupils about, a more sustainable and greener future.

The tree planting at Bishop Young, which is one of the largest inner-city projects in the region, will take place over three days with pupils from the academy, along with other community members taking part.

We are incredibly excited about this project and look forward to sharing more information going forward.
