Recently we were delighted to welcome former Leeds United captain and football legend Lucas Radebe to Bishop Young Academy for a truly memorable visit.
During his time with us, a number of our students had the exciting opportunity to receive brand-new bikes through the Tesco Stronger Starts scheme. The bikes were presented by Lucas Radebe alongside Miss Nevin from the Leeds United Foundation, making the moment even more special. The initiative aims to support young people in leading more active, healthy lifestyles, and our students were thrilled to be part of it.
The visit also provided a platform to celebrate the incredible work of our Next Gen Leaders. The group delivered an inspiring presentation on their recent social action project, which involves creating care packages for women who have recently been released from prison. Designed to provide practical support, encouragement, and a sense of dignity, the packages aim to help these women take positive steps as they begin a new chapter in their lives. Lucas and our guests were deeply impressed by the compassion and commitment shown by our students.
It was a fantastic day for everyone involved, filled with inspiration, generosity, and community spirit. We are incredibly grateful to Lucas Radebe and the Leeds United Foundation for taking the time to visit us and support our students. Lucas was a true gentleman throughout the day, and his presence left a lasting impression on both students and staff.
