The Abbey Multi Academy Trust working in partnership with Leeds City Council, is proposing to establish a 30 place Resource Provision for pupils with complex communication difficulties including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) at Bishop Young Church of England Academy. This specialist resource provision would support children with EHCPs to attend a local mainstream school providing both a differentiated curriculum and access to mainstream social and wider curriculum activities. The resource provision would cater for all secondary year groups i.e. Year 7 – Year 11. These children would be on the roll of Bishop Young Church of England Academy.
The resource provision would be led by specialist staff with expertise and skills in supporting pupils with ASC. The creation of this provision will better provide for the sensory and learning needs of children on roll with ASC and will enhance the quality of provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs. The proposed opening date for the resource provision is September 2021.
